Two cheeky double accumulator on bottom of the table teams too lose and the strong FA cup teams.

I've put £3.01 on Cheltnham to beat Daganham & Red Bridge in the English NPower League 2 (11/10) and for Aston villa to beat Wigan in the English Premiership (13/8)
(odds from paddypower.com)
Both Wigan and Daganham aren't doing too well so I'm looking for a save win by betting on them to lose.

£3.01 will return £15.08... not a bad £12.07 profit.

As its FA cup weekend I've also put on £2.17 for Arsenal to beat Sunderland (7/5) and for Chelsea to beat Birmingham (3/10)
(odds from paddypower.com)
My thinking here is that both Arsenal and Chelsea don't have much else to play for. Neither will win the League and neither are doing well in Europe so the FA cup is a good chance for them to get a trophy. I would be surprised if they don't both put out a strong teams.

£2.17 will return £6.77 which is a £4.60 profit.

Update on progress so far...

My football betting has gotten me up to £65! that's £15 profit so far. Which is good progress. Quit while your ahead... Nah.
I'm yet to start with the other two so they are both still at £50

Trying to keep honest and show all the results & bets

I did take a loss with that Arsenal game vs AC Milan but the lesson was worth the £2.17
What did I learn? Well, I'm English so betting against an English club is hard for me. I've been caught out in the past at various World Cups and Euro Finals betting on England against the odds.

As you can see with my second bet, the one that won £22.01, I bet on the smart choices. Stoke were never going to win that game... even at home. United will be in the final of the competition, they were a gamble away from home. Its often United's way to get an away draw then beat them at home. The PSV game was a make weight... I'm not convinced Turkish football has much va va voom at all anymore so happy to bet on the Dutch leaders. But most importantly I didn't bet on Man City to win. Ok, they did win but listening to it on the Radio it had draw written all over it.

So my first adventure didn't turn out so well... Lets try again.

I've had a look at the Europa League games tonight and picked three teams to win which I'll put in an accumulator.

Here are my picks
Ajax vs Man Utd, Man Utd to win @ 10/11
Stoke vs Valencia, Valencia to win @ 7/5
PSV Eindhoven vs Trabzonsport, PSV to win @ 13/8
(all odds are from paddypower.com)

Man Utd will be hurting having to play in the Europa league and Ajax are only 6th in the Dutch League
Valencia are 3rd in La Liga and should be more than a match for Stoke even away.
PSV Eindhoven who are the Dutch league leaders take on Trabzonspor who are lying 4th in the Turkish top devision.

Stick that in an accumulator and £1 brings back £11.66

Remember, I'm starting small so I don't blow the whole lot!!

I'm putting £1.83 on which will return £22 if it comes in.

EDIT: All three came in! Man United won 0-2 after a pretty poor first half. Valencia won 0-1 against Stoke and PSV beat Trabzonsport 1-2. My £1.83 got be £22.01 so I'm up to £68.01!

Wednesday, 15 February 2012

Ok, here we go... First bet has been made for the Gamble stage

A Massive £2.17 on Arsenal to beat AC Milan and Manchester United to beat Ajax

Champions League Matches - AC Milan v Arsenal - Arsenal @ 11/4
Europa League Matches - Ajax v Man Utd - Man Utd @ 17/20
So I'm down to £47.83 and looking at £5.83 return if they come in putting my up to £53.66

EDIT: OK, that didn't go so well. AC Milan gave Arsenal a lesson in football with 4-0 thrashing!
so that puts this little accumulator to bed. but at the end of the day its only £2.17 so nothing too much to worry about.

Welcome to my £50 challenge blog....
What's the challenge?  Its an experiment! well, its a bit of fun really.

I'm going to take £150 of my own hard earned cash and split it 3 ways. I'm going give myself the rest of the year to see if I can turn a profit from three different methods.

The Gamble
OK, so it sounds like a bad idea and you might be frowning already but stick with me. When I say gambling I mean educated selection and sticking to what I know. I know a bit about football especially the English Premiership so that's where I'll stick for now. I'll also not be making outragous bets... the idea is to make a profit.

The Hard Shift
Buying and Selling bits on EBay and at car boots. For this I'm going to put a rule in that I have to buy the item first, I can't just use some old stuff lying around the house. This one will be intresting I think.

The Safe Option
I'm just going to put this £50 in safe places... I'll start with the bank but have a think.

This is 100% an experiment for my own personal experience. I don't reccomend this at home :)
